Kirkland Named “Tree City” 7th Year Running

Kirkland, Washington has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor the City’s commitment to community forestry. It is the seventh year Kirkland has received this national recognition. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. Kirkland has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community: having a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.     NAR's Green Designation Residential Elective Course provides real estate professionals with knowledge and awareness of green building principles applied in residences so that they can guide buyer-clients in purchasing and retrofitting green homes as well as help sellers by listing and marketing green properties. The Course encourages the real estate professional to be an advocate for green principles in the design and use of homes and a positive force for creating sustainable communities.
